Baker and Baby Update!

It really hit us on Sunday as Baker stood (front row, far right)singing in church that she is growing up! Since January, we’ve traded dance for choir and Baker has loved every moment. We were so proud that she made it though this performance (Her Christmas program at school was more drama than singing.).

On Monday, we had a blast making Valentine’s for her classmates. Baker enjoys coloring, painting, cutting and using glue sticks..anything that can make a mess. Her favorite thing to draw is a smiley face and it’s precious! I have to take a picture of one! We’re still battling the “Threatening Threes”, but every day God reminds us of what a wonderful gift He’s given us!

I’m really starting to feel great! The baby is super active and loves to wake me up at 4am..kicking and moving around. It’s such a wonderful feeling and I’m taking in every moment or kick! It’s been strange referring to the baby as “it”. I’m thinking it’s a boy, but I’m trying not to get it in my mind because if it’s a girl, I will be shocked. I’ve picked out a girl’s name and a boy’s name. Next step…convincing Lacy to like them!

This is a sign that Baker’s ready for the pool! She loved bath time last night!

Mom or Teacher?

On Thursday, Baker and I celebrated the return of Lacy! He was in Tampa all week with business and man was life a little harder without him. We went to bed later this week and I was late for work! But…Baker and I did enjoy some girl time, which was awesome! This week I learned to relax a little more and just enjoy her “spirit”. Baker enjoys every moment of life and truly never slows down! My assistant gave me some great advice. She told me that I could be Baker’s teacher or her mother. After teaching all day it’s hard to take that hat off, but it’s been so much more fun to just be a mom!

Lacy and I try at least once a week to get Baker on her bike, to practice pedaling. She’s not very fond of it, but gets better each week.

This weekend Baker and I made her valentine’s for her class. Since they are not allowed to give out food or candy, I thought it would be fun to attempt making heart shaped crayons (shout out to my student teacher for the idea!). We thought they turned out super cute! Baker really enjoyed seeing the process of breaking the crayons into pieces and melting them. The Valentine’s Day card will say… “Happy Valentine’s Day for “crayon” out loud!”

Week 21

I just completed week 21 of my pregnancy. We’re half way there! I can’t believe how fast it’s going. We had the “big” ultrasound this week and the baby is in the 85th percentile for size and I’m measuring a week ahead. I was thrilled to find out I hadn’t gained any weight since my December appointment. I’m a little excited to have another ultrasound done at 30 weeks; the doctor wants to check some other things, nothing serious. The baby looked wonderful and it was so hard not to find out the gender, but we stayed strong! Dr. Hearn was excited to hear that he will get to make the big announcement in the delivery room. Baker will make the announcement to the family. We’re not any closer to coming up with names, but I have found the perfect bedding for the nursery! We’re going with black, grays and browns….basically the colors that are already in the guest room.

Oh…Baker!

The older Baker gets, the more her personality shows! Even though she test us as parents every day, there’s not a thing I would change about her. Especially when she tells me at least ten times a day “Mommy, I love you soooo much!”She makes us laugh every day! She is a very strong willed child and very opinionated. Hints her selection of outfits! A few of her quotes this week: After telling Baker she could have a cupcake, “Mommy, you lost your mind!” As we’re getting ready for church, she comes running into the bathroom crying “Mommy, daddy is not being a nice boy. He won’t let me do what I want!”

As soon as Baker gets home from daycare, she runs to her room and changes clothes multiple times. I asked her what I should do to stop her from changing clothes all evening she told me that I “should lock up her clothes”. Like I said…she makes us laugh everyday!

Baker and Daddy Day!

Our number one goal this weekend was to take down all our Christmas decorations. It’s one of those chores Lacy and I dread doing. However, it made me happy to think that next Christmas we’ll have a 6 month old addition to our family!

Lacy decided to take Baker with him on an errand to Home Depot. They arrived just in time for the Kids Workshop Lesson! Baker was so proud of the “Saving Shed” her and her daddy built.

Week 18

This weekend was beautiful and Lacy set Baker’s easel up outside. She had so much fun painting a picture of Joseph, Mary and Baby Jesus. That’s what she named her painting. I had a hard time making out what it was, but she was very clear in explaining it to me!

When I was pregnant with Baker I documented the pregnancy with monthly pictures. With this pregnancy half way over I thought it might be time to get started! Baby Williams is due June 3rd, just 2 days after I finish school. Perfect timing! Baker was 2 weeks early, so we’ll see if this baby makes it to June! We are not finding out the sex of the baby. It’s going to be hard, but what a surprise it will be on delivery day!

Yes! The Williams Family is still alive and kickin’! I’m into month 4 of my pregnancy and I have just started getting some of my energy back; morning sickness is still an issue. Life has been extremely busy but with the new year approaching, I’m promising to update the blog more frequently! I’ve already missed out on so much documenting…Colin and Mary’s wedding, Baker’s 3rd birthday, graduating from grad school and everything in between! So…I’m just going to start fresh with Christmas. We were so excited to see Baker’s 1st school performance. Her class sang Jingle Bells. As you can see from the 1st picture, Baker started off very well. Then it went down hill. She truly got a case of stage fright. She was screaming so loudly, you couldn’t hear her class singing! That weekend, we made our 1st stop of Christmas at my dad’s and step-mom’s in Gainesville, GA. We enjoyed a nice dinner and visiting with the Baker side of the family. Baker had fun visiting with her Great Aunt Laura. Grandpa is always good for a snuggle. Baker was proud to sport her new suitcase from Grammy and Papa B. We were excited to spend Christmas in Pinopolis with Lacy’s grandmother. On Christmas Eve, Lacy and Baker both made their 1st gingerbread house!She was just a little proud! Baker helped Bebe and Gin-Gin prepare Christmas lunch. Baker slept until 8:30 Christmas morning! We think Santa was a little too nice to Baker. She loves the doll house and art easel he left for her!Our next stop for Christmas was Williston. We arrived at Gi-gi and Papi’s a little after lunch. Baker enjoyed spending time with her uncles and grandparents. It was our 1st Christmas without Colin. We missed him, but are so happy he has a wonderful family in Arizona to celebrate Christmas with.

We ended our Christmas Tour of 2011 at Granny’s and Bebe and GranDan’s. It was so nice to be able to celebrate Christmas with everyone in our family!

Baker made it through her 1st Tiger Football game and loved it! It was nice to see a game past half time!Baker loved going on the field after the game. Check out the bare feet! Before the game…we had to wake her up to go into the game and she woke up saying “Go Tigers!”.

Baker will be 3 in November and last Friday we celebrated her 1st hair cut! It’s amazing what a little trim will do! She was such a big girl. Missy has been cutting my hair since college and she even made a trip to Williston to fix my hair for my wedding so it was only fitting that she’d give Baker her 1st hair cut!I think it was the stillest we’ve ever seen Baker!

The other evening I walked outside to find Baker taking care of her babies! It was so precious. She’s practicing to be a big sister in May! Baker loves her new car seat! (Can’t tell from the picture!) It’s so much roomier and it transforms into a booster seat.

Baker attended her 1st dance class this week! The 1st half of the class is tap and the 2nd is ballet. She was very nervous at first and wanted me to stay in the room with her. Luckily her teacher is very understanding and does allow parents to stay. It was the most precious thing to watch. Lets just say that Baker has plenty of room for growth. She was much more focused for the ballet portion of the class. It’s going to be a great learning experience for her because she’s going to have to learn to pay attention to the teacher. Baker was that child at the end of the line doing her own little dance.

This weekend Gigi and I took Baker to pick out her 1st pair of dance shoes and all the necessities. She was such a big girl waiting to be sized. It was a little sad to see how much Baker has grown up. Her 1st class, Creative Movement, is tomorrow. I’ll keep you posted!

Fun with Friends

I was so happy to finally make a trip to Charlotte to meet baby Ethan! He is such a beautiful baby! I even got to feed him! It was wonderful to catch up with Len and Nicole. We’ve been friends since high school and they’re Baker’s God Parents.

They are doing a fantastic job parenting 2 young kids. It made me feel bad when I complain about keeping up with just 1 kid! After spending hours in traffic, we were happy to make it home from Charlotte safely. We ended the day at the ball field. Seneca is actually hosting the Dixie Boys World Series and last night they had several events to kick off the series. It was pretty neat to see the top 12 teams in the country…in Seneca, SC! Baker enjoyed every last moment of daylight jumping in the bouncy house. She was terrified of the fireworks and hid behind me or buried in my shoulder so there are no pictures of the spectacular fireworks. Getting to see Jake made Baker’s night! When I told her that we were not going to be able to see Jake the next day she cried and said “But I love him! I so sad I can’t see him.” Baker had a blast having Tessa and Addie over to play. The moms spent hours learning to make hair bows and the girls did a wonderful job of entertaining themselves. We were impressed with them and our ability to make cute bows!

On Wednesday, Baker enjoyed helping her daddy celebrate his 31st birthday! When Lacy asked her where we should go for his birthday dinner she suggested Chick-fil-a. Too bad..sushi won over that suggestion! Lacy requested a simple birthday, so we went for Oreo cupcakes (instead of a cake) from Cubcakes. Anything with Oreos throughout is delicious!

Baker enjoyed “helping” her daddy put together her “princess bed”. We never told her it was a princess bed. When we tell her we like her big girl bed she reminds us that it’s a princess bed!

Day 3..of Training

Today's training was not as successful as yesterday's, but I broke the rules and left the house. It was worth it though..church was wonderful and visiting with family was a nice ending to the day! Lacy's sister and her family stopped by while they were in town. Baker enjoyed playing with her cousin Elliot. She's a wonderful kid and such a help!
Kendel turned 1 in May and is so funny! She has so many expressions!

This was the best group picture I could get. Baker was ready for a nap and Kendel was more interested in exploring the backyard.

It melted my heart to see how sweet Baker was towards Kendel. I think she's going to make a great big sister (no time soon though).

Each evening Baker enjoys helping me water the gardens. This is her version of watering.

Day 2 Potty Success!

We started the day off great (besides Baker's 5:45 a.m. wake-up call)! Baker's bed was dry this morning when she woke up! I think I was more excited than her.

We had a deal that if she woke up dry, then she could wear an outfit throughout today's training. She was thrilled and spent some time this morning dancing. Today was a huge success because she went all day without any accidents! Yahoo...we're going to take the chance tomorrow and leave the house for church and lunch with Lacy's sister and her family. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that day 3 will be as good as today! I'm so proud of my "big girl"!

Day 1 of "Serious" Potty Training!

Today we started Day 1 of the "3 Day Potty Training". Last week, I did a little research on the best methods to use for potty training because after 6 months of dragging it out, I'm ready to be done with the "training". I'm tired of using pull-ups, diapers, and panties. Poor kid, she must be confused! I blame myself for the drawn out process because I really haven't been adamant about it. Well..3daypottingtraining.com has put us in gear. After Day 1, I am truly exhausted. I think I will be saying "Tell me when you have to go potty.", in my sleep. The program guarantees me that she will be trained by Sunday. We'll see! It's intense..that sounds so silly to write, a potty training program is intense! Well, it is. I have to be by Baker's side all day telling her to tell me when she has to go potty. I'm not suppose to ask her because she has to learn her own body signals. Today I woke up equipped and ready for success. I have the stickers, prizes, charts, you name it..I have it. We'll see what Sunday brings! We started the morning by bagging up all her pull-ups and diapers. She was excited that we were giving them to the babies! She's obsessed with babies! During the 3 days we stay at home and she is only to wear panties and a t-shirt. The t-shirt "rule" is about to kill her because she loves to wear her girlie outfits.

Since Baker decided it would be wonderful to start her day at 5:45 a.m., we were painting by 7:45.

It's fun to observe how much more involved she is in task. We actually played 1 game of dominoes.

Since we're trapped inside for the next few days, Emma came over for a visit. Yes!! They were acting like babies. Too silly! Check out Baker' pants. When Emma walked in the house wearing a cute outfit, it killed Baker that she was running around in a t-shirt, so off she went digging through her clothes. I said, "You may wear pants since we have company". Now that I type that, it sounds a bit trashy.

Last week we surprised Baker with a "big girl bed". She calls it her "princess bed". She loves it and actually sleeps in it. I'm just hoping that tomorrow morning I don't have to wash the entire bed set! I'll keep you posted! We only had 2 accidents today.

I keep telling myself, surely if I can teach kids to read then surely I can potty train my own child!

Simple July 4th

Baker and I were excited to spend some time with Lacy on his day off. We enjoyed a simple 4th of July, swimming at the lake and grilling out. With no hesitation, Baker jumped right into the lake. She would've stayed all day if we hadn't run out of snacks. (That's my trick to get her to leave the lake and the pool! I only pack a few snacks, so I know she'll want to leave to get some more food!)
I don't know who enjoyed themselves more, Kota or Baker. He was unsuccessful at catching some fish, but did find several sticks to retrieve and chew on.

Do you see why we ran out of snacks? Baker enjoyed trying to feed the fish before Kota ate the "fish food" a.k.a cheese crackers.

We are so lucky to have such a wonderful dog for Baker. He adores her and is very protective of her. The other day, while I was in the garden, Baker started to climb the fence. Within seconds, Kota was barking and dashing across the yard to get to Baker. He stood behind her until she climbed down. He does something similar to strangers. If a stranger approaches Baker, Kota starts barking and stands in front of her. He won't let them approach Baker unless Lacy and I give him the OK. I just love this dog!

A Week of Pure Bliss

Baker just returned from a week visit with her Bebe and GranDan. I was so sad to see her go away from home for an entire week, but I knew she would have so much fun. I also need to get use to letting her go away from home. The longer I wait the worst it's going to be. Baker had fun playing with her cousin Sayde. Although..I did hear that Baker was somewhat "rough" with Sayde.
The highlight of Baker's day was getting to play outside with all the water games Bebe and GranDan had set up. This picture makes me laugh!

Each night, the girls went to VBS. Bebe had fun playing dress-up with them.

They spent a lot of time in the flower and vegetable gardens.

The zucchini is as big as Baker! I'm wondering if it made it safely into the house!

Tea Party!

Baker and I joined Emma and Kate for a girl's day out! We enjoyed a Tea Party at Chick-fil-a. We all had fun decorating hats, drinking tea, eating a delicious lunch and ending it with a dessert. It was so much fun to finally relax. Baker is growing up too fast and I'm grasping to hang onto each moment with her.

Emma was sweet to surprise Baker with princess accessories. Of course the Diva would wear the boa!

Father's Day!

This year Baker and I decided that Lacy needed some "wall art" for his office, so off we went for a photo shot at the Botanical Gardens. It took a little longer than I expected. Baker decided to show her silly side and I couldn't help but laugh! We did however, get several precious shots!

Summer Time Fun

Baker was thrilled when we arrived at Emma's for some pool time and dinner.
I think the floats were more of a fashion statement. The water just went up to their knees!

These two are truly like sisters. They play, argue over toys, dress-up like princesses, giggle, get into trouble(Emma tries to keep Baker in line) and just have fun being together.

Baker is into making silly faces. I can't help but to laugh! She's like her daddy...making me laugh every day!

She's A Winner!

Baker finished her swim lessons and was so proud of her medal. She worked hard and thank goodness we have the rest of the summer to practice. Yesterday she stepped off the bottom step in the pool and sank to the bottom! It was a little scary, but a good lesson for her.

Despite finishing up the final chapters to my thesis, I have really taken the time to enjoy every minute God has given me with Baker. She is turning into a little lady and is so funny! She reminds me every day that she is a "big girl". However, she did tell her swim teacher "Baker has little, baby, short legs." Lots of descriptive words Baker! I think that was her excuse to take a break from her lesson!

Baker has loved spending time with her best friend, Emma. They are too precious, walking around holding hands!

Baker is my little assistant in the kitchen, if this is what would classify as assisting.

Swim Lessons 101

This week, Baker started swim lessons with our neighbor, Ms. Betty! She has loved them and is improving every day. She is putting her head under water and kicking from one end of the pool, to the other. We are so proud of her!

I could fill this post with excuses why I haven't updated the blog, but instead I'm just going to let you know how we're kicking off summer!

Baker has really enjoyed working in our 1st garden. (I'm just hoping it actually taste good!) We'll see! I'm cooking our 1st "harvest" of squash, tomorrow night for dinner.

Every day she dresses up like a princess. Her favorite princess is "Sleeping Boobie". (I can't help but laugh every time she says it!)

She actually has to wear a bow because her hair falls into her eyes!

A Weekend with Family!

On Friday, we celebrated Teddy's graduation from Clemson. He graduated with honors in Communications. The graduation took 3 hours! I think we all took a little nap.
Colin and Mary flew in Thursday. We were all happy they could join us for the celebration!

After lunch, everyone came back to our house for dessert and presents. Nick looks thrilled!

I think cake was Baker's favorite part of the day.

On Saturday, we made a trip to a winery. I was a little nervous about taking Baker, but she did very well.

After lunch and some tasting, we took a tour of the winery. Colin took Baker on her own tour while we finished up lunch.

Easter Weekend

This year we celebrated Easter in Pinopolis with Lacy's grandmother, Gin-Gin. Baker LOVED riding around the village with Daddy, in the golf cart.
This was her 1st year dying eggs. I was a little nervous, but we only had 1 spill.

She was proud and a little amazed about the eggs changing colors!

On Saturday, Gin-Gin's church had a community Easter Egg hunt. It was wonderful! They had all of Baker's favorites: jumping castles and slides, a playground, and most memorable...the pool of bubbles.

This was the stillest I've seen Baker. She was still enough for another one on the other cheek.

Baker has never really been a girly girl. She's usually playing in the dirt, but lately her favorite thing to do is dress up like a princess. It didn't take long for her get the hang of it. She was disappointed we couldn't find her clip-on earrings! She told me they were at "Bebe's house".

Fight Finn Fight!

Finn is a 2 year old daughter of a friend. Her and her family are truly in need of our prayers! On Friday, Finn will have a very risky surgery to remove a baseball size tumor on her liver. During the surgery, they will also place a port for chemotherapy treatments. Please pray for strength for Finn and her family and that God will heal her. Finn's a true fighter!

A Little Taste of Spring

Sunday was just too pretty not to go outside, so we set off on a walk to the lake. Baker is such a funny child and each day she amazes us with her comments and expressions! So..on our walk a bee was swarming around Baker. She said "Mommy! I scared! I scared of bee!". I assured her that if she doesn't bother it, then it won't bother her. Well...Baker gave me this look and said "You jokin' me mommy! I know you is!"

It was very stupid on my part to think Baker would stand so nicely in the "pool".

Within seconds she was soaked!

Lacy finally had to take off his shoes and go in after her! She refused to leave the "pool'.

Spring Fever!

This afternoon we made our first trip to the circus. It was truly an adventure and we all had a wonderful time as a family! Can you tell she'd eaten a bag of popcorn, m&ms and drank several sips of Coke?

Lacy surprised me with a plane ticket to join him in Phoenix for a visit with Colin and Mary. Colin has lived in Phoenix for 3 years, so it was past time to pay him a visit. We had a blast! I miss them so much and was so sad to see our time together come to an end. Saber was such a sweetheart. Lacy thinks he "moves" and acts like a Hank instead of a Saber. He joined us every afternoon for happy hour by the pool.
If you only knew what it took for Lacy and I to make it to the top of Camel Back. We "rested" at the top for a while.

This was only the beginning of our hike up Camel Back.

Look closely...see the pole? Oh yeah! You had to hold onto it to move up and down parts of the mountain.

Baker's "Big" Cousin

For the past two weekends, Baker has enjoyed spending time with her cousin Sayde.

Last weekend Sayde made a journey to the upstate for a visit.

This weekend we made a visit to Williston. I left Baker there for a week long visit! I did cry on my way home. I miss her so much, but I know she's having fun with Bebe and GranDan.

Baker made her 1st trip to the Children's Museum. It was a fun family trip.

Baker would live outside if she could. When I arrived at daycare today, she asked me to leave because her class was going to the playground! She was so upset she missed afternoon recess.
I was hoping we would make it through the winter season without the breathing treatments, but she's up to 5 treatments a day. I'm so proud of how well she's taking her treatments. Last year it was pure torture! We had to hold her down and listen to her scream for 15 minutes.

This year all she needs is a little Mickey Mouse Club House and mommy's and daddy's bed! It's a miracle!

Baker brings me such love, laughter, joy and true happiness! No matter how busy or stressful life gets, she always brings me back to what living life is all about...love and happiness! Yes..we do play soccer and "b-ball" in the house. We recently added a Little Tikes basketball goal in the living room and I'm trying to figure out who uses it more Baker or Lacy.

At least she partly knows "how" to use the restroom. I do believe she's reading Golf Digest.

Kota says "hello"! He's still hanging in and keeping up with Baker. He's always 1st in Baker's room to wake her up each morning. Oh...we do love Kota Man!

Can you tell she was saying "cheeeese"? This weekend, we made the best of our 5:30 wake-up calls from Baker and made buttermilk pancakes from scratch! They were delicious and I really enjoyed spending time in the kitchen with her. Although I treasured the time with Baker, I'm hoping that next weekend she gets the memo that weekend=sleeping in for Mommy and Daddy!

We've stayed in our pajamas all day, every day!

The guest room has been transformed into an office, so Lacy could work in somewhat of a productive setting.

I actually completed my grad school assignments ahead of time.

I've had time to update the blog more than once.

Big Girl Bed!

Sunday night was Baker's 1st night in her "big girl bed". I planned for her to have a night of rambling in the toys, leaving her room, and of course falling out of the bed. With these anticipations, I decided to finish up some school work in the living room. That way I could hear all her happenings that night. I did jump out of the chair when I heard a big bang that was followed by a screaming for "ice". I rushed in with a Mickey Mouse ice pack and a hug. That did it, she was out for the night! Night 2 was great! No playing or falling, just sleeping soundly. After night 3, this is what I woke up to. Bless her heart! She just rolled out the bed and kept sleeping. Good thing Lacy was watching out for her by adding 2 king size comforters to her floor. It made for a safe landing.
She loves her bed and is so proud to be a big girl! We're proud too, just a little sad that she's really growing up!

Christmas Parts 3,4,and 5

After this Christmas, I hope Baker doesn't think that Christmas last for 3 days! This year we decided to start our own family traditions and stay home. After Christmas we made a trip to Williston to celebrate with the grandparents. I think Baker was most excited about Santa leaving a little piece of the cookie we left for him. Her first words that morning were asking if she could finish Santa's cookie!

Santa knew what he was doing by giving her all the necessities for taking care of her babies.

Baker enjoyed visiting her cousin Sadye (not that you can tell from this picture) while we celebrated Christmas with Bebe and GranDan.

This is Christmas Part 2. Christmas Part 1 was at Grandma and Grandpa's house, but I forgot my camera. We had a wonderful time celebrating an early Christmas with Colin and Mary. They made a stop in Seneca during their Christmas Tour of the South. We enjoyed every moment with them and miss them so much!

Baker also enjoyed a visit from one of her best buddies, Emma. These two always have so much fun together. Emma's mom and I were roommates in college, so it's only natural that they love being together.

Dreaming of a White Christmas

It has snowed each year since Baker was born. This might not seem significant, but in the south, it's a big deal. Having a white Christmas this year was the most memorable and we took advantage of the moment. The snow started falling Christmas evening and the next morning Baker hit the ground running!

We're Back!

To life's been busy is an understatement! Between traveling, being sick, a new job (for Lacy), work, and school we've been on overload. Things are settling down and I'm excited to be back to blogging. Baker turned 2 last week and I have noticed that she is no longer a baby and it has made me very, very sad!

On Monday, Baker gave all her bop-bops to Baby Will and the other babies at daycare. I think it was just as hard for me as it was for her. It was her last piece of being a baby! We've had 2 rough nights and I hope that the 3rd night is a charm!

Baker usually dives into everything she does, but like her daddy, she thinks the insides of a pumpkin are disgusting.

I'm not creative when it comes to drawing or carving, but I think it turned out OK. Baker did think it was pretty cool lit up!

Fall Festival Fun!

This was our 2nd year going to Trinity's Fall Festival. Last year, Baker wasn't even walking. It's amazing how much she's changed in 1 short year! She could've stayed in the jumping castle all night! Check out the video at the end! She was the youngest kid to go down the inflatable slide. One time was not enough for Baker. We did that slide 5 times! If she would've had her way, she would've done it by herself. My legs , back and arms are feeling the pain. It rained early in the evening, so the steps were slippery. It was a sight to see us going up those steps! She was slipping, I was slipping and I'm so thankful we didn't fall! I would've crushed her.

She is showing off her new addition to the family, a goldfish! Oh yes! I was shocked it made it home alive. At one point, Baker put the bag on the floor and the fish was laying on it's side, with no water! I told her it would hurt the fish to be out of the water, so she kissed the bag.

Her Bebe would be proud! Baker had her 1st taste of cotton candy! She really didn't know how to eat it and I wasn't going to encourage her. That's all I needed, a 2 year old jacked up on pure sugar!

Baker had so much fun and I was so happy we decided to go!

Pump-Pumps

Last weekend, Baker and I enjoyed an afternoon of painting pumpkins. We had a great time visiting with friends and spreading paint from "pillar to post".

Baker added her own touches to our spider pumpkin. We have these pumpkins displayed at our backdoor and every day she walks past the pumpkins she says "My pump-pumps". "I paint." "Mommy paint."

I know she's going to love carving a pumpkin!

Some of our best friends, DeAnne and AJ, made a trip from Beaufort to visit us this weekend with their son, Noah. It was just a few short years ago, we use to see them several times a month. We use to spent many weekends tailgating and celebrating Clemson football. Tailgating was truly a weekend event for us. Well..things have changed since we both have kids. It's a good change! The guys went to the game while DeAnne and I chased the kids around the house and the yard. We had a wonderful time catching up, cooking, eating, laughing, and making tailgating plans for the Clemson-Carolina game! Can you tell who doesn't get to sit on the counter very often?

We had an exciting weekend! Colin and Mary made a trip to the "East Coast" for a visit. Saturday we piled in the car and took a drive to Highlands. We were eager to show Mary where Colin and I share many wonderful childhood memories visiting our family.

I was so happy that Baker could see Paw-Paw's cabin. She won't remember it, but we'll have the pictures to show her.

The Baker and Cash family built this cabin in the 30's. I'm not sure of the exact date, but it's old!

After spending the afternoon in Highlands, we celebrated Colin's 27th birthday! His best friend from college, Paul, joined us for dinner. Paul and Colin played soccer together at Anderson University.

I attempted to make my first cheesecake. It was ok..not restaurant quality, but it worked. We had cookies as back-up.

Mary slaved in the kitchen, making homemade enchiladas. Delicious!

Almost Wordless..

I intended to make this a Wordless Wednesday post, but I just have to say what a fun girl Baker is! Most evenings Lacy and I watch the Baker channel. She loves to take care of her babies and last night she sorted her toys by subjects: foods, babies, phones, and dishes. She put them in different piles around the living room. A few weeks ago she sorted her blocks by colors. We don't know where she gets this organization from (I'm thinking her Uncle Colin), because it sure isn't from Lacy or me! All the while she was talking to herself and tending to the babies. She is too funny and I truly can't get enough of her.

What Was I Thinking?

What was I thinking when I decided to go to grad school? My student loans from undergrad were paid off, now those will be replaced with grad school loans. It's a LOT harder than I expected and even harder trying to juggle a full time job teaching, being a mommy, and a wife. There's no down time and it's the most overwhelming thing I've done. I have to keep telling
myself I can do it and it will be over in June, less than a year! YAHOO! Today was suppose to be a day of relaxation, but instead I'm reading, researching, and writing. Chapter 1 of my thesis is due Thursday night. Chapters 1-3 of the thesis will be completed by the end of September, at least that's what the syllabus says. I just don't see how that's going to happen because all I really want to do is...... spend every moment with this little princess! By the way..this balloon lasted 5 minutes before she bit into it, popping it in a crowd of people. All eyes where on her and of course me, the mommy who let her toddler have a balloon on a stick!

She Loves to Make a Mess!

Being a kindergarten teacher, I'm all about letting kids explore and make messes! Let's just say, our house looks "lived" in. Crayola lied. These markers are not washable. It took 2 days to get the marker off her hands and legs.

What a great idea! Window Crayons! It entertained her for 20 minutes.

I just have to make sure she doesn't transfer her art to the wall.

At least she likes to help us clean.

Coloring has become part of our daily routine. Baker is at the age that we can start doing projects with her and it's so much fun. She prefers markers over crayons, I think because they can make a bigger mess. If she only knew about the finger paint that awaits her!

We love to lounge and watch TV, but I'm afraid Lacy and I have not set a good example for Baker. She can say remote and knows where we keep the remote. Baker is a jumper! There have been many nights Lacy and I have heard a loud banging coming from her room. My 1st thought was that her bed had collapsed, but come to find out she was only jumping in her bed. On Saturday Popi, Gigi and Baker spent the day together. This gave me time to catch up on school work and some house cleaning. Baker was in heaven when she walked through the doors of "jump-jump".
She did get stuck in the cracks of the castle and a little girl tried "saving" Baker by pulling on her legs.

It didn't slow her down!

I guess you can say we're a Clemson family! Let's see..to graduate from Clemson: Lacy, me, my brother, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, step-sister, Lacy's grandfather(played football for Frank Howard) and 2 brothers attending Clemson. I'm sure I'm leaving someone out! We do feel very sorry for my brother Brett, who is a senior at USC and Lacy's step-sister, Emily, who's a freshman. We still love them and claim them! Sunday evening, we enjoyed hearing Uncle Nick and Uncle Ted (plays the bass drum) perform a sneak peak of this year's half-time show.

Whirlwind of a Week!

Our 1st day of school! I look like a psycho in this picture, but after 3 attempts it's the only picture that Baker's not showing the back of her head. It was 6:30am!

Baker and I both started a new school year this week. Baker moved up to the toddler room and I welcomed 23 kindergarteners. We've both had a fun and exhausting week.

In her new classroom, she sits in a little people's chair and table to eat and work on projects. I would love to see a picture of that. She never sits more than 5 minutes. Just this past week, she's learned to feed herself with a spoon and fork. She use to flip her food off the utensils before it made it to her mouth. She's also learned how to walk in a line with her classmates, holding the "chain of rings." I don't know the proper name for that ring thing. Our baby is growing up way too fast!

Yesterday was open house at Baker's daycare. We were able to visit the toddler room and meet her new teachers. Baker felt right at home in her new classroom. She loved seeing Elmo and Dora decorations in the room. The only character missing was Minnie. Baker starts in her new room on Monday. I'm excited for her and know she's going to have so much fun. Our little baby is growing up! I found out that her teachers have given her the nick-name Woman! Some days she thinks she is! I found some Mickey stickers while cleaning out my classroom. Baker had fun decorating herself with them. Stylish! Don't you think?
Everyday this week Lacy and Baker have had a blast swimming in the new pool, in our backyard. It's very convenient, but Baker thinks she has to swim each time she lays eyes on it! Wawa! Wawa! It's all we hear!

Baker and I have enjoyed many mornings, picking fresh flowers. She loves to smell them and having them in her bedroom. She likes to blow them kisses from her crib before she goes to bed.

Each day, Baker's personality shines a little more. To sum it up...Lacy and I have our hands full! Last night as I was playing with Baker, I told her that being her mom has been the toughest job I've ever had. She leaned over and gave me the biggest kiss! It's a moment I will always cherish! Baker loves coloring with markers and looking at herself in the mirror. She thought she was so silly with marker on her face.
No..I'm not making Baker do chores, not yet at least. She insist on helping me around the house, from sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and taking out the trash.

She thinks she's so funny when she looks away from the camera. It drives me nuts!

Detox

This week we noticed how rapidly Baker's vocabulary had increased. She started saying her colors and will repeat what we say. Several times this week, I had to ask Baker to remove the bop-bop from her mouth so I could understand her. This really aggravated me and I didn't want Baker to learn how to talk with a pacifier in her mouth. With Lacy out of town for the weekend, I thought it would be a good idea to have a detox weekend of the "bop-bop." Oh my! It has been a vocal weekend. We are starting with only allowing Baker to have her pacifier when she goes to sleep.

I knew Baker was over-reacting because she is not allowed to have a pacifier at daycare and will take a nap at daycare without a pacifier. Her teachers tell me she never ask for her pacifier.

Just be thankful there's not video of this! Kota went outside.

Are We There Yet?

A few weeks ago Baker and I took a road trip to WV for a friend's wedding. All I can say is thank the Lord for my mom (she joined us for our road trip) and a DVD player. It was a trip to remember. We arrived in Morgantown at 2:30am. Our hotel room was not available. That's another story for another day. Let's just say we didn't get in bed until 4:30am! Baker did such a wonderful job. I was able to entertain her while my mom drove. Entertainment consisted of picking up her bop-bop, night-night (her bunny) and anything else she "dropped". I think she ate every snack in the car. After the 2nd showing, my mom banded the Dora DVD and broke down and bought some Minnie Mouse DVDs.
We had a going away dinner for Janae before she moved back home to Fairmont, WV.

There's nothing like cake for lunch! Mom and I found this delicious dessert shop for lunch.

Baker thought my necklace was a toy. It's a sign I don't accessorize very often.

Janae and Mike were married at High Falls (I think that's the name). It was a beautiful location!

This was the view Baker and I had of the wedding. She decided to be a little too "vocal" during the ceremony.

Mom was able to take some pictures while I tried to get Baker settled.

I had a difficult time getting Baker to understand she could not go swimming in the raging rapids! All she could scream was "wa-wa".

Oh...how Baker and I will miss Janae! I spent several years teaching with Janae and she was also Baker's babysitter.

It was wonderful to visit with my former principal.

The 1st thing Baker did at the reception was hit the dance floor!

All the dancing lead to a hungry baby! She enjoyed 2 cupcakes, thanks to Gigi (my mom).

A recent trip to WV would not have been complete without swimming in the hotel "wawa". I can easily say that Baker is addicted to swimming. She plays in the "wawa" everyday. It's hard to say what she loves more: jumping in the pool, going under water, or being tossed in the air.

Today we said our goodbye's to Grandy. Lacy's dad, Andrew Williams, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 12th. Baker will hear many wonderful stories about her Grandy and how much he adored his family. We love you Grandy!

A Visit from Bebe!

Bebe made a special trip to the Upstate to keep Baker while Lacy and I enjoyed our get-away to Atlanta. Bebe easily filled her visit with loads of fun for Baker.

Baker wakes up saying yum, yum and wa-wa! The girl loves to start each morning with food and swimming.

Bebe bought Baker a mud pie making toy. We've spent many days playing/cooking with mud.

She loves to put the mud pies in the pool after I finish "eating" her delicious treats.
At the end of the day it's hard to distinguish mud pie "drippings" from dog crap!

Celebrating the 4th!

We spent this 4th of July celebrating with a great group of friends. On Sunday we joined some friends at the lake for a BBQ. The only way to get Baker out of the water was introducing her to the food table and meeting her new love the, ATV. Lacy took her on several rides and she never stopped grinning. She was also content just sitting in it, yelling "push-push" while pointing the pedal and saying "beep-beep".
I never knew how much sand that little bit of hair could hold!

On Saturday, we joined Kate's family for dinner and fireworks. Baker couldn't take her eyes off the fireworks. At the end, she clapped and cheered.

Road Trip!

This week, Lacy and I enjoyed a fun overnight trip to Atlanta to see the Braves. Our great friends, Justin and Chrissy joined us. It was nice to have a night without kids! The last time Lacy and I went to a game, I was 5 months pregnant.From our seats, we could see everything in the dugout. The only rule was, we could only take pictures between innings.

I usual, I was craving something sweet after dinner. I was sure Baker was too, so we joined forces to bake a festive 4th of July cake, sprinkles and all! She could not believe I was letting her hold the mixer while it was on. I was a little nervous. Images of the bowl sliding off the counter and batter decorating the kitchen, crossed my mind.

This past weekend we headed south to Pinopolis to visit Gin-Gin, Baker's great-grandmother. It was nice to get away and relax. Baker enjoyed making her Gin-Gin laugh!

Baker and I have had fun these past few days! We've been shopping, visited with friends, played outside, gone swimming, watered the plants (she has her own watering can and loves to help) and visited the library. I just want to freeze time now! She's so much fun! I hope she always has a zest for life! Her vocabulary is growing every day. Sometimes it's challenging to understand her, but she'll just grab my hand and show me what she's talking about. Check out the curl on top! I'm so excited to see some "growth" in the hair department! What was I thinking? Baker should never wear clothes when eating spaghetti! The shirt still has spaghetti stains on it!
Meal time can be a battle as to which "sit" she's going to sit in: the high chair, booster seat, or mommy's and daddy's "sit". I'm learning to pick my battles! It's so hard!

Blogging has taken a backseat to grad school and end of the year hoopla at work. Only 4 more days until summer vacation! I can hardly wait! I don't know how much of a vacation it will be with grad school, but at least I can slow down! Even though life can get busy, stressful, and hectic, it's nice to look back on all the wonderful memories we've made over the past 2 weeks! Colin and Mary made a trip to the South Land. They decided to spoil Baker and surprise her with her 1st kitchen. The box should have said, "A lot of assembly required!" It took over 2 hours and I'm sure Colin's perfectionism added 30 minutes. It was fun to catch up and just be together.

Baker went right to "work". Uncle Nick gave her a few pointers.

Yum! Yum! Baker's first dish was complete! She decided Uncle Colin and Aunt Mary should get 1st dibs on her meal. Baker plays with her kitchen every day!

Happy Birthday Nick! He's excited, not just because it's his 19th birthday, but because he no longer has to borrow our skillet to cook for his friends.

Lacy thinks I overreact! It's the little things like lotion and hand sanitizer that make mom happy! Happy late Mother's Day! You're truly the best! We love you!

We joined Clemson United Methodist Church. We're excited about this new journey in our lives: it starts in a couple of weeks, with teaching bible school! I'm a little nervous because I'm a very stern teacher at work and bible school is a whole other world!

Baker's 1st soccer lesson. She has a lot to learn from her Uncle Colin. He played soccer at Anderson University.

My partner in crime, Sheri, and I hosted a bridal shower for our friend Janae. She's leaving us to go back to WV! We're so happy for her, but very upset she's leaving! The only thing she requested was to have every one's address, phone number, email, etc. We mailed a card with all the information on it, along with the invitation. Each guest brought it with them to the shower and placed it in this bowl. On the back of the card, they shared their favorite memory they had of Janae. We also typed up the recipes from the shower and made them into a book. We used the invitation as the cover.

Sheri is my kindergarten assistant, or more like my life saver. I couldn't teach without her! I did my student teaching with Janae and we've been great friends since. That was almost 8 years ago! After student teaching, I ended up teaching next door to her and she's been guiding me ever since! She has a lot of patience!

Mother's Day!

I believe the best gift on Mother's Day is being given the gift to be a mother! I am truly thankful for that opportunity to raise such a precious little girl! People weren't kidding when they said it's the toughest and most rewarding job. I really think that managing 21 kindergarten students is 10 times easier than raising a kid. Oh..I do hope Baker turns out ok! :)

I can't wait to wake Baker up each morning. She is the best part of my day!

Check out the bow! The purpose of her bows is to prove she's a girl, not to hold back hair. Oh yes!! People still ask us if she's a girl! I'm like..do you dress your little boy in pink dresses? Come on people!

Since I started grad school, Baker has had even more "Baker/Daddy" time. They spend a lot of time outside. This is Baker's normal "after daycare attire", swimsuit, baseball cap (like daddy), a bop-bop (still working on getting rid of that thing), and sunscreen. She is such a daddy's girl! When I ask her to give me a kiss, she points and shakes her finger at me and says "No! No! No!". She runs to Lacy and showers him with kisses!

Fun in the Sun!

Every experience with Baker is a moment I treasure. Something as simple as the playing with the water hose can be so much fun. Opps! Water feels funny going up the nose.
Yeah! "Juice!" Juice is what Baker screams as the water pours from the hose or falls from the sky! Yes! Rain is "juice!"

Oh..how did that happen?

Ahh! This feels much better!

Social Butterfly!

Wow! April is almost over and it's been filled visiting with family and friends. Baker enjoyed visiting her Aunt Emily. She was visiting from Asheville. I told Baker she could still love Aunt Emily, even though she's going to become a Gamecock this fall.

BeBe and Grandan made a trip to Seneca to babysit (spoil) Baker and Kota while Lacy and I made a trip to Hilton Head for the Heritage.

Being social includes socializing with the animals! She loves Gigi's cats. (Popi doesn't claim the cats)

Baker was showing a little attitude with her Godparents, Len and Nicole.

Baker didn't know what to think of baby Grayson. Len and Nicole are foster parents and it was our first time meeting, 4 month old, Grayson. He is such a sweetheart, but Baker was not very happy that another child was getting attention.

Baker went to her cousin, Jackson's, 1st birthday party. She loved seeing her Granny, cousins and eating cake!

Baker and Emma finally had a play-date! They had so much fun eating a Happy Meal, playing with bubbles, and going on a wagon ride around the neighborhood.

Grandma and Grandpa made a visit to Seneca to spend some time with Baker. She was not in the mood for taking pictures.

To say that Baker loves animals would truly be an understatement. She was in heaven when we visited Lacy's dad, Grandy.
I wish I would've recorded her squeal when she found the box of 8 kittens.

There was no hesitation. She quickly picked up any kitten that didn't get away from her.
I encourage her to enjoy every moment because we were not taking one home. Kota would love to have one for a snack.

Poor Tigger! He's such a good sport.

Easter!

This was our 1st holiday celebration at home as a family. We usually are out of town visiting family, but we figured it was time to start a few of our own family traditions.

(I guess this means I'm growing up?)It was fun playing the Easter Bunny! (Can you tell the Easter Bunny is addicted to children's books?) She even left Lacy a basket! Pistachios and Reese's Eggs..his favorite.
Of course Baker went to the food 1st!

Gracen turns 2!

On Saturday, we had a wonderful afternoon celebrating Gracen's 2nd birthday. We enjoyed time with family and delicious food!
Baker was entertained all afternoon with all her cousins' fun outside toys. It's easy to see why Madison and Gracen "live" outside!

Gracen enjoyed showing Baker proper trampoline etiquette.
These two are going to have many fun years ahead of them. They are seven months apart, and really do enjoy each other. I wish Gracen could share some of her hair with Baker.

On the Hunt!

Baker showed her competitive side this year as she participated in 2 Easter egg hunts! And..she's off! Basket, bunny, and sippy cup! Nice form Baker!
She had to take a little water break during the hunt!

It was so cute..every time she'd bend over to pick up an egg, her little ruffles would flip up!

Our good friends, The Crawford's, invited us over for dinner and an Easter egg hunt on Sunday. They even had an Easter basket filled with goodies for Baker. We had such a good time!

Landon turns 2 in June. He was sharing some of his kisses with Baker.

Saturday morning, Baker had her 1st Easter egg hunt in Clemson. She was a little nervous with all the commotion, but once she picked up her 1st egg..it was on!
