Cruising on the Lake

Two wonderful things happened today...Baker said her 1st word.."goggie" aka doggie and she went on her 1st boat ride on Lake Keowee with our good friends the The Robinsons.
Tessa enjoyed an assortment of drinks and food on the boat....really anything she could get into.
Before long Baker will be up running around with Tessa.

This scene is a common occurrence when these two get together. Baker just finds Tessa's hair irresistible or maybe she's just envious! Tessa's a good sport about it!

I think Baker looks so funny in a life jacket.

A scary moment for all of us...Jake driving! Going out on the lake was his prize for doing such a great job in school and signing the Principal's Proud Board..the 1st in his class.

One day Baker...you'll feel the wind blowing through your hair!

This was Baker's favorite part of the trip..holding on tight to the front of the boat and looking out over the water. She would giggle and jump up and down.

Baker fell backwards when we 1st put the life jacket on her. Lacy had to help her get her balance.

Clemson Band Camp

This is our 3rd year attending Tiger Band's Season Preview and this year we had two new additions, Baker and her Uncle Nick. Nick is playing tenor sax and Ted is returning for a 3rd year as a bass player on the drum line. I think Baker was a proud niece. She danced to the music and loved watching the drum major and waving at her Uncle Nick on the field.
Uncle T loves him some Baker!

It was tough to find Nick in the crowd. You would think the red hair would help, but there are a lot of people with red hair. I'm use to looking for a bass drum...that's much easier to find.

Of course Lacy would find a way to make Nick laugh while he was performing!

9 Month Update

Well Baker...as I look back on your 8th month of life and as you enter your 9th month, a great way to describe it would be "In like a lamb...out like a lion!". This past month you have really developed into a "little person". Here are some of your highlights...

  • You're putting more syllables together and babble with different pitches and voices all the time. I just know you're going to have a sweet voice!

  • You have not started saying words that we understand, but you are defiantly telling us stories with your own words. Your expressions are so very funny and truly priceless! You have a BIG personality.

  • You are pulling up on everything and crawling everywhere. You've gotten really fast at crawling. We turn around and you're in another room.
  • You've fallen and hit your head many times this month. We've given up on putting ice on all your bumps. It's not your favorite thing.
  • You're learning to stand on your own and are so proud when you do.
  • It's not like you, but you've had some fussy nights. (I'm blaming all the fussy moments on these teeth!)
  • We love playing "chase" with you crawling around the living room (yes..mommy crawls around on the floor, I'm sure it's a sight!).
  • You love playing chase with any ball you come in contact with. It's great entertainment for us and exercise for you.
  • We have to keep you away from Kota's toys. You love his toy basket and all his yucky toys! He never messes with your toys!
  • You love giving open mouth kisses and great big hugs! It warms our hearts to see the love you have for others around you!
  • I know there's so much more...but these are some highlights! (Remember it's my 1st day back to school and my brain is fried!) We're enjoying and treasuring every moment with you! Forever and a day Baker Boo!

What to do?

It is amazing to "see" the "gears" going as Baker is faced with a problem. I just hope she doesn't get use to pouting when she doesn't get her way. We've been working with her on going down the steps, but she hasn't had the courage to do it alone!

Tell Us About It!!

Can you tell Baker is teething? When will it end? It looks like those 2 front teeth could pop out at any moment and be fully grown!

9 Months Old!

I use this blog to document Baker's life events and print out the post to go in her "memory" book. Today would be a wonderful day to post because Baker is 9 months old today! I must say I've been so consumed with starting school that I haven't had the time to blog. I promise Baker...sometime this week I will post about all the wonderful things you've accomplished this month. It has truly been amazing! I love you Baker Boo!

Where's Baker?

Now that Baker is "on the move" with crawling her "views" on life have changed, as well as mine (in a different way).
I'm ready for that shelf to break at any moment, "just don't go for the wine Baker". I try not to think of the energy I'm wasting as she explores the "cool" place. Cooking naked! A little dangerous I would think! This is what Baker looks like DURING a diaper and clothes change. Changing and dressing her have become one of those things I DREAD because it is such a struggle. She's a little speed demon and gets away from me so fast. There are many days I just let her get some "fresh air" and hope that nothing leaks out on my new carpet.

The dog's water bowl is Baker's mini pool. It's a little gross, but then I think of all the places she crawls and it can't be any worse. I should have taken a picture of the look on Kota's face as she dumped the entire "unit" on the floor. Let's just say we had to change clothes and mop the floor.

The SHARK...she really plays with this every day. She especially like to pull it over and empty the dirt pan all over the floor.

The vacuum...it's really a favorite of hers. She goes in the closet and will try to pull it out. She'll sit back and look at. Then she'll look at me to start it up so she can follow me around the house as I clean. It's really strange b/c her Uncle T was born on the same day as Baker, November 16th, and vacuums were his 1st love. He received a few "real" ones as gifts, during his toddler years! Now we refer to Baker's love of vacuums a November 16th thing. She just can't help it! I'm looking forward to her doing some cleaning for me in the years to come.

Oh My!

School is just around the corner, kids report August 17th and we report next week! Yikes!! Look at my room! It's a disaster. This is not the norm for me! I usually have things together by this time of the year. A new house and baby have really changed my world and I love it! It's just a big adjustment for me. It's going to be a VERY busy week for me, Baker and Lacy! I start parent/teacher conferences next week! I'll post after pictures very soon!

Steal of the Month!

I normally do not blog about items I purchase, but I think you gals/guys need to know the deals that are out there! I found this Britax car seat on Craig's List for $80!!! It retailed for $300! It was a 2nd car seat for a family and was rarely used. There's not even a stain on the straps or scratch on the base. I'm so excited! It can be used for rear facing or forward facing. I'm not ready to give up Baker riding in her infant seat, so we'll save this for her 1st birthday. Now I'm off to tag ALL and I mean ALL (but her coming home from the hospital outfit) of Baker's 0-6 month clothes for a consignment sale in Greenville. Why hold onto clothes, when I know it will be a while until we have another kid (unless God sees otherwise) and what if we don't have another girl, or she's born in another time of year? I would much rather have the money to purchase clothes/toys for fall/winter, her birthday and Christmas!
